Man living at airport after being denied entry into NZ - World - Video - 3 News
Dr B read this book to us and it was very powerful. She provoked us to think about our assumptions of homelessness. How do we imagine the structures and the routines that mark the days and nights - the things that give shape- to the "terminal lives" of the working poor. I immediately linked this story to The Pursuit of Happyness. It has been said that any one of us is one serious illness or a layoff from being there ourselves. It shocked to me think that I had never considered those (ones) who are attached to the homeless..Shelby in class today reminded us that poverty in every school, in every class. And there is such shame attached to that poverty. Diane Wishart also today described the "psychology of poverty" whereby junior high aged students become self-identified as deficient in resources...in worth? in capacity?
